Photo Safari (#PG-DAY) - Day trips In Penang & Kedah Ex Penang
Tuesday, 29 March 2011
Penang & Kedah Day trips - ex Penang
(Guiding fees, all transportation, pick up & drop off anywhere in Penang, no meals)
Short on time and just cannot get the extra days off for an extended trip?
No problems at all! We have loads to offer just on day-trips originating from Penang which covers a large area of Northern Peninsula Malaysia.
We are also offering great selection of half day and full day trips in Penang and around mainland Penang & Kedah. These nature photo safaris are fully customizable to suit your schedule and all are pick up and drop off (door to door) at where you are staying on Penang Island or mainland Butterworth. Depending on your time available, we can get you back at about lunchtime or by dinnertime.
We have a great diversity of bird habitats all within a daytrip from Penang island, all offering a slightly different variety of bird life. Below are a few examples of what we have available.
Great Diversity of Bird Habitats
The habitats range from saltwater tidal mudflats where the migratory shorebirds, herons and egrets are found to coastal inter-tidal mangrove bunds with salt & freshwater waterways and canals favoured by kingfishers, woodpeckers and cuckoos to open agricultural fields where you may see shrikes, dollarbirds and beeeaters.
We also have lowland secondary (regenerated) forests where barbets, flycatchers and raptors are found to fairly undisturbed primary lowland (foothill) evergreen rainforests where you can see the more exotic birds such as trogons, forest kingfishers, broadbills and forktails.
Farther south in Maxwell Hill, you will have tropical montane forests at elevations of 1,100 meters above sea level and a entirely different bird list emerges.
- as birding areas are located a fair distance apart in this northern region, I will group them together in a manner that will allow best utilization of time (especially the peak bird photography morning hours of 7.00am to 10.30am)
-it will not be possible to do cover more than 2 areas in a day (maybe maximum 3) due to the available time & geographic spread.
-Species highlights only lists down the more likely species to be encountered and some of the more unique ones. Chances are likely that you will see far more species than listed. It is far from an extensive list and is not the complete bird list of each area.
